Furthermore, the study predicts that North Texas’ labor market will gain 230,000 additional jobs during 2011-2013. Since the housing market is closely connected to employment rates, this is excellent news for real estate.

Texas Ranked as #2 Business Environment

Site Selection magazine released its annual ranking of the states with the most favorable business environments, and Texas took the #2 spot. Here are the top 10:

1. North Carolina
2. Texas
3. Virginia
4. Ohio
5. Tennessee
6. South Carolina
7. Alabama
8. Georgia
9. Indiana
10. Kentucky

Brendan Case of the Dallas Morning News reports:

Site Selection’s annual rankings are determined 50 percent by how each state performs in a database of new plant activity, which tracks new and expanded business facilities, and 50 percent by a survey of corporate site selectors – the people who advise companies where to locate operations.

Apparently, had the ranking been based solely on the views of the selection experts, Texas would have had the gold medal!
