For Ellen Terry, building a luxury real estate brand in Dallas has been about much more than selling extraordinary homes. It’s about growing a team and giving back to the community.

The Briggs Freeman Sotheby’s International Realty team was honored to recognize and celebrate Ellen Terry and her impact on the Dallas community at her retirement party Thursday, May 26, at the Dallas Country Club.

Over the past 40 years, Ellen has sold more than $1 billion in real estate, including some of the most iconic residences in Dallas.

“It is a tremendous honor that Ellen ultimately called our brokerage her home, and that it will continue to be home for the Terry Team,” said Robbie Briggs, President and CEO of Briggs Freeman Sotheby’s International Realty, where Ellen has acted as Executive Vice President of Coaching and Mentoring. “I count myself among the many team members who have benefited from her generosity, passion and knowledge.”

Ellen’s gift for motivating and uplifting others is undeniable. Early in her career, she would host three-day retreats in Kerrville, Texas, where agents would hear from motivational speakers about self-confidence, perseverance and the importance of a positive attitude.

“She was really a pioneer in developing a luxury real estate brand and in understanding that part of that means investing in yourself and in your agents,” said Ellen’s son Todd Terry, who will continue to lead the Terry Team as Senior Vice President. “All of it stems from her true belief that attitude is everything and a desire to help those around her to be all they could be.”

Ellen’s personal goal is to make a difference where she works and lives, giving back to the community in every way possible. She has served on a wide range of community organizations and boards. In 1991, she founded the Ellen Terry Realtors Ladies Golf Classic and has raised more than $400,000 to benefit the Genesis Women’s Shelter.

“My passion is to help others believe in themselves and raise them to a higher level,” Ellen said. “I am very fortunate to have had opportunities to do that throughout my career and to have been given opportunities myself by mentors and friends like Robbie Briggs.”
