Charity Challenge: Breaking the Chains of Addiction | Nexus Recovery Center
December 23rd, 2015 | by Michelle
“I have been an addict since the age of 17,” says Kim, a client of Nexus Recovery Center. “After about one week of sharing with other women and counselors, my mind started opening up to the possibility of change and looking at what got me here to begin with.”
Through programs like the Intensive Outpatient, Supportive Outpatient and Aftercare, as well as live-in options, Nexus provided multiple levels of care for every situation. For Kim, it has created a new sense of community.
“I truly love this program and my Aftercare family,” she says.
At Nexus Recovery Center, dedicated professionals work to rehabilitate women caught in addiction. Through multiple programs including parenting classes, counseling and life skills training, women at Nexus are able to find healing and opportunity.
Since 1971, Nexus has assisted more than 20,000 women, adolescents and children. The twelve-acre campus in east Dallas includes dormitories, a childcare center, outdoor recreation facilities, classrooms and more. Funded through donations, this nonprofit organization is dedicated to rebuilding lives through compassion and care.
The winners will receive a special CultureMap digital promotion package that will allow them spread the good word about their great works.
Voting closes Dec. 29, and winners will be announced Jan. 5.
