Posted September 15th, 2011 | by The Update

Tonight through Sunday, more than 60,000 fans of beer, strudel, and all things German will gather in Addison Circle Park for four festive days of music, folk dancing, sing-alongs, children’s entertainment, and more.
The festival was dubbed one of North America’s top 10 Oktoberfest parties by USA Today and has been hailed as one of the world’s most authentic outside of Deutschland itself.
Among the many entertainment attractions include beer barrel bowling, the German Idol yodeling contest, a 5K run, a Dachshund parade, and several stages featuring award-winning German music and traditional dancing. For the kids, there’s a magic show, a side-street circus, and shows by the Alpine Children’s Dancers.
And don’t forget the food! Gorge yourself on authentic German sausage, schnitzel, sauerkraut, pretzels, and more. The entire park area will be flowing with a variety of real Oktoberfest beers and highly-acclaimed German wines. And don’t miss out on the Brau Haus, a full-service dining adventure with an authentic three-course Bavarian menu. You even get to take home your own bier stein!
Whether you’re looking for a night on the town or a family adventure, Addison Oktoberfest promises to be a rollicking good time. Click here for further information from the official website and a virtual program outlining the weekend’s events. Prost!
